Plants need light as light is required by the plants to prepare the food which is essential for their survival and growth. This process is called photosynthesis — a long word, but it’s a crucial one! Plants take in light through their leaves and convert that light into energy. This energy is also what makes plants able to grow and flourish. If plants do not receive enough light, they will not be able to grow properly and they will eventually die. So, light is like the food of plants!
Plants make their food through photosynthesis. It's a special reaction that requires three things: light, water, and air. Plants absorb sunlight, as well as ground water and air-borne carbon dioxide during photosynthesis. The light provides the energy needed for the process to occur. Plants cannot make the food without the light; that is why they will not live. This is exactly why it is important for plants to get sufficient light each day.
Various plants require varying amounts of light for proper growth. For example, some plants such as sunflowers or tomatoes (light Dianococcus plants) require lots of light to grow, while some plants such as ferns or mushrooms (light independent plants) can grow in low light. The optimal amount of light also depends on the season and how much natural sunlight exists in the environment where the plants are growing. In fact, most plants require a minimum of 6 sunlight hours a day to remain healthy, while some will require even more and it could vary from plant to plant, and typically when they are young and growing, anywhere from even 12 hours.
Plant scientists research which conditions allow plants to grow and thrive. In order to better understand plant growth, one of the main things they examine is light. This is something they know: The brightness of the light, how long it shines in a day and the color of the light are all factors that can alter how plants grow. Some plants may do better in blue light, while others may need red light for instance. Scientists also run experiments observing how things such as artificial light typically emitted from lamps affect plant growth. They have found out that when plants are given certain artificial light, they grow faster and produce more food.
For many years farmers and scientists have used light to help grow more food for people. They have devised various ways of controlling how much light and what kind of light gets to plants. For example, they create special kinds of lights (such as LED lights) that encourage plants to grow in places where there is not enough sunlight from nature. These are LED lights that can give off the proper type of light that plants need, even when the Sun does not shine. Farmers can also adjust when and for how long the plants are subjected to light to better facilitate their growth. This goes a long way in areas where sunlight is scarce, especially in winter.
We know the need of light for plants and their growth at Lucius. That’s why we specialize in tailoring unique lighting solutions for farmers and growers around the globe. Aim of our LED grow lights is to make the plants grow healthy, strong & also using less energy than normal plants. The latest technology is used to provide them with the right kind of light required for different types of plants. This helps the plants get the absolute best light and helps them grow and give us maximum food, which are really important because we as humans have to eat all around the world.
